Bill Benson as they talk about their journey to Mongolia at 1 p.m. Children in the “Every Hero has a Story”
program got to “be a hero for the environment” during a lesson on natural resources Thursday. Teens
marathoned superhero-themed movies during the first “Unmasked!” movie day Wednesday. Look for more pro-

Start holiday early at City Lights
City Lights Cinemas and It’s
About Time Productions will
offer a fun, early start to the
Fourth of July weekend on
Thursday, July 2, with “Surfin’
Florence USA.”
Live, high energy American
surfing music will be per-
formed in all its glory at City
Lights Cinemas on the Chaplin
Stage
The band will be comprised
of Denny Weaver of The
Fabulous Wailers, Byron Case
of The Sun rays, Michael
Anderson, Nate Kaplan, with a
special appearance by saxo-
phonist Paul Biondi.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m.,
with general admission seat-
ing. The show starts at 7 p.m.
and will continue until the
party is over.
Admission is $10 with mem-
bership, or $12.50 for non-
members, and the event is open
to all ages.
A portion of the proceeds
will benefit the Siuslaw School
District music programs.
There will also be dinner,
beer, wine and snacks avail-
able.

Society’s Relay For Life of
Florence event is just around
the corner and the community
is invited to participate. This
