TO PREPARE AN ENVIRONMENTAL
ASSESSMENT FOR EROSION CONTROL AND
REPLACEMENT OF BOATHOUSE AT
US COAST GUARD STATION SIUSLAW RIVER,
FLORENCE, OREGON
The US Coast Guard (USCG) proposes to construct
two groins for erosion control and to rebuild the boat-
house at USCG Station Siuslaw in Florence, Oregon.
The waterfront and upland assets at the station are at
risk of failure in the long term from ongoing riverbed
scour and erosion of the bluff face, and the existing
boathouse has deteriorated and is approaching the end
of its design life. Failure of the facilities would jeopard-
ize USCG missions of search and rescue, law enforce-
ment, and marine and environmental protection.
Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act,
the USCG intends to prepare an Environmental As-
sessment that evaluates the potential effects on the en-
vironment of a range of replacement alternatives, as
well as a No Action Alternative.
Interested parties are invited to comment on the pro-
posed action. Comments should be submitted by july
