victim
An account has been set up
at Oregon Pacific Bank for
the benefit of Phyllis
Berkner, who sustained seri-
ous injuries recently in a
head-on collision just south
of Florence and was life-
flighted to Sacred Heart
Medical Center at RiverBend
in Springfield.
Berkner’s car was struck
by an uninsured driver and
totaled by the accident. She is
recovering at home but is
without transportation.
Donated funds will be used
to help purchase a used vehi-
cle. Any donation would be
greatly appreciated.

Raymond Wagner
1924 - 2015
Ray Wagner of Florence,
Oregon passed away on June
13, 2015 at the age of 91.
Ray is survived by his wife
of 40 years, Marsha Wagner.
His siblings are Diane Jay,
Steve Wagner, Linda Kilger,
Randy Sherer, all from California, Robin Grimes of
Salem, Oregon, his sister, Grace Snyder of Walnut
Port, Pennsylvania, his home town and his 6 grand
children. Ray enjoyed soaring in the clouds as a WWII
US Army Air Force 1” Lieutenant as a Pilot, Instructor
and Communications Offi cer. He also fl ew many years
as a Corporate Pilot in California. His love of fl ying is
portrayed through this poem ...
“High Flight” Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward
I’ve climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split
clouds and done a hundred things you have not dreamed
of - wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit
silence. Hovering there I’ve chased the shouting wind
along and fl ung my eager craft through footless halls of
air. “Up, up the long delirious burning blue I’ve topped
the wind-swept heights with easy grace, where never lark,
or even eagle, fl ew; and, while with silent, lift ing mind
I’ve trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out
my hand and touched the face of God.”
