Garden Club awards scholarship to Burkhart
At the Siuslaw High School
awards ceremony May 28, the
Florence Garden Club awarded
a $1,000 scholarship to gradu-
ating senior Zachary Burkhart,
who will be majoring in
wildlife sciences at Lane
Community College.
Since 1994 the Florence
Garden Club has given more
than $51,000 in scholarship
awards to qualified students
whose educational goals lead
to a career in a horticulture or
an environment-related field.
The Garden Club thanks the
merchants and public who sup-
port its annual plant sale and
raffle. It’s community support
and dedication of Garden Club
members that provides the
money for these awards.
