❚ WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10, 2015 Marchetti montage featured at Silver Lining Gallery all summer The opening champagne and hors d’eouvre recep- tion for the Giuliano Marchetti exhibit, “Mixed Metal Montage and Recycled Resurgence” will be this Saturday, June 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. The Marchetti show is too extensive to be seen in only one visit or even one month. Therefore, The Gallery Above the Silver Lining Boutique is dedicating the entire summer to his diverse and extremely artistic works — bells, instruments, montages and re-works. His intricate inventions are incredibly intriguing and filled with eclectic engineering which resur- rects the recycled items into artistic masterpieces never before seen. Marchetti is gifted in many areas. This show allows him to share his uniqueness and diver- sity with all art enthus- iasts. The foundation of Marchetti’s unique style is the melding and welding of metals and common objects, magnificently masqueraded into multiple marvels that will intrigue each viewer and participant. This adventurous coll- ection combines function and form, geometry and balance, lights and darkness, science and spirit, and static struct- ures with sound. Deadlines for press releases are Mondays and Thursdays by noon. Email them to: P RESS R ELEASES @T HE S IUSLAW N EWS . COM . His structural sculpt- ures and shadow boxes are bursting with bold- ness, boisterous ringing gongs and bells, motion filled music boxes, and microscopes that zoom into the pieces and see the excruciating detail that otherwise might have been missed. Visibly recognizable household items have acquired new life through his masterful hands and imagination. The understanding of the multitudes of molten and melting metals montaged into a single artistic statement is where his creations begin, mixed with skillful creativity for each metal masterpiece. Garden Club awards scholarship to MHS grad At the Mapleton High School graduation ceremony held Saturday, June 6, the Florence Garden Club award- ed a $3,000 scholarship to Tucker Ford, who may be majoring in forestry at Oregon State University. Since 1994, the Florence Garden Club has given more than $51,000 in scholarship awards to qualified students whose educational goals lead to a career in a horticulture or environment-related field. The Garden Club thanks the community for supporting the club’s annual plant sale and raffle. That support, along with the dedication of club members, is what pro- vides the money for these awards.
