Alliance presents Rhody
Days — Arts Festival at the
Florence Events Center (FEC) on
Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to
5 p.m., and Sunday, May 17, from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This free show and sale of unique
works of art and fine craftsmanship
fills Galleries 4 and 5 and the
Lobby. It is a great way to find a
creative treasure and benefit a
cause, as each artist will donate 10
percent of their sales to the FEC.
Artists and vendors come from
Eugene, Seal Rock, Coquille,
Elmira, Waldport, Corvallis,
Gresham and the local area.
Enjoy demonstrations by local
favorites and discover new artists
as well, like: Richard Anderson,
obsidian knives; Doris Andrews,
shadow boxes; Beverly Apple, vin-
tage copper jewelry; Claudia
Brown, sea glass and beadwork
designs; Cindi Covert, crocheted
hats and scarves; Beverly Egli,
painted saws; Nancy Gant, lamp-
work; Sandra Kay Hayes, fabric

Rhody society hosts
flower show, sale
T
he annual Rhododen-
dron Festival Flower
Show and Plant Sale is
scheduled for Saturday and
Sunday, May 16 and 17, at the
Florence Events Center (FEC).
The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 5
p.m. both days.
Sponsored by the Siuslaw
Chapter of the American Rhodo-
dendron Society, the flower show
opens to the public free of charge
on Saturday at 1 p.m. and contin-
ues on Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
The public is welcome to bring
flower trusses on Saturday from
7 to 9 a.m. to be judged by rho-
dodendron experts.
The truss must come from a
plant that the owner has grown
for at least six months.

Ribbons will be awarded. It’s a
great time to ask questions, find
books and information and enjoy
the beautiful colors of the sea-
son.
Plant sales will take place out-
side the south side of the FEC.
In addition to the flower show
inside, there will be a rhododen-
dron leaf display and the Siuslaw
Elementary School students’
rhododendron art show.
