Health Fair today
Us TOO Florence Facilitator
Bob Horney will be presenting
two seminars on prostate can-
cer at today’s Community
Health Fair at the FEC.
Horney will be in Room 3 at
4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m..
His information will cover
PSA screening, diagnosis,
treatment or non-treatment of
prostate cancer, which, for
men, is the most frequently
diagnosed non-skin cancer and
the second most frequent cause
of cancer death.
HAM exams today
The Central Oregon Coast
Amateur Radio Club will host
an FCC license exam session
on Saturday, April 18, for those
interested in obtaining or
upgrading their Ham Radio
license.
Exams will be available for
technician, general and ama-
teur extra class licenses. The
exam will be held at the
Siuslaw Fire Dept., second
floor, and will begin at 10 a.m.
There is a $15 fee (cash
only) for testing.

777, Boy Scout Troop 777 and
the Florence Elks join forces to
put on a pancake breakfast
fundraiser Saturday, April 18,
from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the
Elks Lodge on 12th Street.
Breakfast includes pancakes,
sausages, juice and/or coffee.
Pancakes are $5 a plate, or all
you can eat for $8. A bake sale
of homebaked goodies is
planned along with the break-
fast.
Proceeds from this fundrais-
er will help support scout pro-
grams and camping in the pack
and troop.

KXCR is planning to cele-
brate its first year on air

Coast Guard offers
boating classes
today
The U.S. Coast Guard
Auxiliary will conduct an 8-
hour boating safety education
course Saturday, April 18, in
Charleston.
The course covers the basics
of boating safety, rules of the
road and Oregon boating laws.
A test at the end of the
course will qualify boaters for
their Boater Education Card,
under the Oregon Mandatory
Boater Education Program.
The Boater Education Card
is required for all motorboat
operators of all ages for boats
more than 10 horsepower.
Additional provisions apply to
youths.
The cost of the course and
materials is $15.
