Tue: 12:40, 6:00 PHOTOS BY CHANTELLE MEYER/SIUSLAW NEWS Children’s Repertory of Oregon Workshops (CROW) sent ambassadors to Elderberry Square, Shorewood Retirement Residences, Spruce Point Assisted Living Community (above), Coast Radio, Kiwanis Club, Rotary and Siuslaw Elementary and Middle School assemblies to share songs and scenes from their upcoming show with audiences who otherwise might be unable to attend shows. “I think we’ve got an amazing group of kids, boys and girls,” CROW director Melanie Heard said. “There’s 45 kids in the show, and CROW has very high standards. ... We treat our shows like Broadway shows. We give our kids the best sets, the best costumes and the best special effects. We really work hard to do that.” CROW’s young cast will perform “Once Upon a Mattress” April 10 to 12 at Florence Events Center. PeaceHealth offers next in ‘Aging Well’ series PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center, in coordina- tion with Lane Community College in Florence, is once again offering its “Aging Well” series. These educational classes are free and focus on preventa- tive care, alternative therapies and advanced care planning and self-care. The lecture series is held at LCC and begins at 9 a.m. Each Wind ensemble to play benefit concert On April 26, at 2:30 p.m., the Pacific Coast Wind Ensemble, the community con- cert band of the central Oregon coast, will present a concert at New Life Lutheran Church in Florence to benefit the Florence Emergency Cold Weather Shelter. Pacific Wind Ensemble’s 30 members are from Newport to Dunes City and several points in between. They all love music and rehearse weekly in order to offer the public the best possible concerts. In the past 10 years their con- certs have been warmly and VOLUNTEERS WANTED enthusiastically received by audiences. The concert theme will be “Themes Like Old Times” and will include a medley of favorite big-band pieces, such as “In the Mood,” “Let’s Dance” and “April in Paris.” Another medley includes “Pretty Baby,” “Me and my Gal” and “Tiger Rag.” Other audience favorites will also be performed.
