Newspaper Page Text12 A SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, MARCH 28, 2015 Reception for artists DiMuro, Russell tomorrow Kenneth B Gallery, in Old Town Florence on First Street, has announced a new exhibit by Florence artists DiMuro and Richard Russell, now through April 25. Both artists will be in atten- dance for a reception tomor- row, Sunday, March 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. The DiMuro and Russell exhibit brings together thought- provoking imagery using mixed media and photography. DiMuro assembles master- fully composed collages that lead viewers into imaginations of piercing and unavoidable truths. Russell’s photographs lead us more slowly to similar dark spaces by way of masculine people-scapes. Russell’s sub- jects appear timelessly lonely, yet bristle with life. “While Russell’s works appear to be eyes looking into souls, DiMuro’s collages are the souls looking out,” said gallery owener SK Lindsey. The gallery is located at 1458 First St. in Old Town Florence. pressreleases@thesiuslawnews.com Climate change topic of library presentation think about climate change in a new light, less about arguing the science and more about modeling into the future — providing policy scenarios and tradeoffs for long-term plan- ning and decision-making. “We need to think beyond today, tomorrow and the next 10 years for that matter,” says Plybon on planning for coastal climate change. “The issue doesn’t have to be obtuse and overwhelming. We have the tools and science to model future scenarios, look at our choices and make decisions now, rather than mire in what often feels like a quagmire of impacts. “Climate change is happen- ing, the impacts are clear and the drivers might often be politically argued, but what we’re going to do about it is up to us.” The presentation will be held in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Public Library. CYAN MAGENTA YELLOW BLACK Climate change can be a daunting and overwhelming issue for Oregonians and the general public to wrestle with. The doom and gloom impacts of climate change from rising sea levels, ocean acidification, more intense storm activity to warming ocean and global temperatures can leave one dizzy and con- fused for what we can do to adapt to along our changing coastline. On Wednesday, April 8, at 6 p.m., Surfrider’s Oregon Po- licy Manager, Charlie Plybon, will be giving a community presentation touching on some of the drivers and impacts of climate change on the Oregon coast, as well as highlighting some key examples of how some coastal communities in Oregon are planning for cli- mate adaptations.
