10 A SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4, 2015 Mo’s to host Project Graduation fundraiser March 10 Dig into an all-you-can-eat fish or chicken strips dinner at Mo’s on Tuesday, March 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. This Project Graduation fundraiser comes with fries, coleslaw, marion- berry cobbler, and includes soda, water or coffee. Tickets are $12 for adults or $6 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased in advance from participating high school seniors, or at Mo’s the day of the event. Siuslaw High School Seniors will fill different restaurant roles that night, such as serving, bussing, and dish- washing. There is a raffle for items donated by local mer- chants. Project Graduation, a drug- and alcohol-free event, organ- ized by the seniors’ parents, is held the night of graduation. Similar events are held at vari- ous schools around the nation. This safe event allows sen- iors to celebrate one last time together as a class. Seniors have worked throughout the year to help pay for this event. French class being offered French is a Romance lan- guage spoken around the world by nerly 90 million peo- ple as a first language, by 190 million as a second language, and by about another 200 mil- lion people as an acquired for- eign language with significant speakers in 54 countries. Most native speakers of the language live in France where the language originated. The rest live essentially in Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, Francophone Africa, Luxembourg and Monaco. For the past 30 years, Gigi Lassan, Founder of France Exchange School, has dedicat- ed her life to teaching French and transmitted her passion to generations of students. Lassan always had it in her heart to make the French class- es a special time of fun and pleasure. With her wonderful French immersion program, she received “the Family Choice Award” in 2003. Goodrow has lived in the Pacific Northwest her entire life. She loves the natural beauty of the Florence area. “After a long career in den- tal hygiene, I decided to make good use of the right side of my brain,” said Goodrow. “I started taking stained glass classes 13 years ago. My favorite thing to do with glass is use lots of color and differ- ent textures of glass.” Goodrow is a member of FRAA, and is on the art dis- play committee at the Siuslaw Public Library. The public is invited to come see her unique display of stained glass creations at OPB dance, selling 50/50 tickets at home basketball and football games, and working conces- sion stands at home basketball games.
