Center stage for performances March 20
through 29.
With the veteran performer Annie Schmidt
playing “The Stage Manager,” audiences will
be led through the lives of the Webb and Gibbs
families. The roles of “Charles” and “Myrtle
Webb,” Emily’s parents, will be played by
seasoned actors Jim Wellington and Judy
Adams. Memphis Gliewe and Shiloh Penrod
will début as “Rebecca Gibbs” and “Wally
Webb.”
Co-directors Jennifer Connor and Cathy
Dupont have worked together with the
actors to encourage the kind of discovery
and experimentation that leads to the kind of
backstory that brings characters to life on stage.
Even cameo-role characters are encouraged to
fi nd meaning in their lines.
The cast also includes Grant Hammond
as “Howie Newson,” Elizabeth Rose as “Mrs.
Forrest,” Chuck Knorr as “Constable Bill
Warren,” James Bonisteel as “Joe Stoddard,”
and Shawn Penrod as “Sam Craig.”
Victoria Seitzinger, Kassy Keppol,
Elisa Arnold, Sandy Vaccaro, Linda Reeves,
Courtney Ricketts, Margaret Mc- Diarmid,
Toni Young, Paula Burnett and others play
supporting roles.

Our Town, a beautifully written play by
Thornton Wilder, is about taking in the beauty
of the simple things life offers. It has been
heralded as one of the greatest American plays
ever written. Themes of everyday living, love,
marriage and the reality of life and death set
the tone for the three-act production. The play,
being produced by local thespian troop Last
Resort Players, will take the Florence Events

Back on an unusually sunny January
weekend in Florence, Last Resort Players
members Lyndsey Keppol and Jesse Reeves
met at the local coffee shop to review scripts.
Later joined by Kate Gibson and Danny
Keppol. Lyndsey and Jesse were eventually
cast in the classic Pulitzer Prize winning play
“Our Town” as characters “Emily Webb” and
“George Gibbs” — a young couple that grows
up in small town America 100 years ago.
Danny and Kate, who are newer to acting, are
