Ladies of Elks send cookies to U.S. troops
www.shoppelocal.biz
The Ladies of Elks’ Touch of
Home Committee of the
Florence Lodge No. 1858 sent
packages to a soldier recipient
and his troops Jan. 14.
The members of the Ladies
of Elks made 410 dozen cook-
ies, as well as packaged snack-
size bag of trail mix, nuts,
licorice and other consumables
that can be tucked into the
pockets of the soldier’s Cargo-
style pants so they can have
nutritional snacks while out on
patrol.
It is costly to send these
packages, and the Ladies of
Elks acknowledged those who
shared in the expense: Mary
Kjaer, LOE member; the
Florence Veterans group
known as the Band of
Brothers; Bill Smales and sev-
eral other LOE and Elk mem-
bers.
