signups Monday
The English as a Second
Language (ESL) program at
Lane Community College
Florence Center is in need of
a volunteers on Monday
evenings from 6:30 to 8:30
p.m. to help a student study for
the citizenship test.
Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to
noon, a volunteer is needed to
help mid-level ESL students
with English conversation.

Life kick-off Jan. 31
Siuslaw Outreach Services
(SOS) will once again be tak-
ing sign-ups for LIHEAP
(Low Income Home Energy
Assistance Program).
Sign-ups will be held
Monday, Feb. 2, beginning at
9 a.m.
Individuals may sign up by
coming into SOS on that day
or calling 541-997-2816.
This round of funding will
allow only a limited number of
applicants.
Individuals
who
have
received LIHEAP funding in
the past three months are not
eligible for this round.
Learn to make soups
On Saturday, Jan. 31, the
2015 Florence Relay for Life
will host its annual kick-off at
the Florence Elks Lodge, 1686
12th St., from 4 to 7 p.m.
The evening will include a
chili cook-off, with bowls of
chili for $3, desert auction,
games and live music.
