Introduction to meditation
class offered tomorrow
The
Thursday
Night
Meditation Group is offering
an introductory class for two
weeks on the practice of med-
itation.
The class is for beginners
as well as those already famil-
iar with meditation methods.
The first class weill be held
Thursday, Jan. 22, beginning
at 4:30 p.m. at Florence
United Methodist Church, at
Second
and
Kingwood
streets.
The class is free.
“Dhyana” is the ancient
Sanskrit word which has been
rendered into English as
“meditation.”
The
Chinese
word
‘“Ch’an” became “zen” in
Japan, and translates in
English to “serene equanimi-
ty” or “calm abiding.”
The benefits of meditation
include stress reduction,
lower blood pressure and
introspection.
