Looms often stand dusty in museums.
Annie Fischer of Shuttle Creek is a live
interactive weaver who can answer
questions and explain how cloth is
made while demonstrating at her loom.
There is nothing like watching the har-
nesses rise and fall while the shuttle
slips in between the threads. Right
before your eyes the yarn is turned to
fabric. The beautiful colors combine to
produce interesting, functional gar-
ments.

winter months on us, Leslie McCray
has a vast assortment of items that will
warm your body and make you feel
stylish. The inventory includes scarves,
fingerless gloves, fun hats and hair
ornaments.

performers or a CD from one of the
2015 entertainers. Remember the
Winter Folk Festival music long after
the weekend is over.

feather fans; fossil, and feather jewelry;
geodes and mineral specimens; book-
ends, coasters and jewelry made from
stones. Romance the stone at The Third
Rock booth.
Treasures await at craft fair
Artisan Craft Fair
is Jan. 17-18.
Shoppers and art aficionados will all
find a lot to like at this year’s Artisan
Craft Fair. Open free to the public on
Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and
Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., this
year’s fair will feature a great combina-
tion of new products and old favorites.
Here’s a sampling of what’s being
offered: Wearable fabric art, metal art,
candles, photography, garden art, wood
products, recycled sweaters, crystal glass
prisms, and a variety of unique jewelry
items.
For the gourmet, there’s jams, roasted
nuts and a new addition, Atlas Hard
Cider. Soaps and creams in lavender and
other flavors will tempt the senses.
Keep an eye out for empty bowls for
Florence Food Share and a fun booth for
the Florence Humane Society, and hand
woven clothing. CDs and gift items from
Winter Folk Festival performers will be
on sale too, along with this year’s WFF
signature clothing.
