he music goes on all day at the
2015 Winter Folk Festival, on
stage at the Florence Events
Center, and there’s something to please
every musical taste. From bluegrass to
Western to down-home folk tunes, it’s all
here for the listening.
In addition to their daytime concerts at
the events center, artists will perform at
various venues in the area throughout the
weekend, beginning Friday. (See sched-
ule on page 3.)

SATURDAY, JAN. 11
Larry Potts opens the show at 10:30
a.m. on Saturday. A Sonoma County,
Calif., resident, Potts has won consider-
able acclaim by winning numerous song-
writing competitions. As a seasoned per-
former he has delighted audiences with
his easy, relaxed delivery and award-win-
ning songs.
Sky in the Road takes over at noon.

where heaven meets earth, the blend of

ethereal and rhythmic, of eternal and
temporal, where the Sky meets the Road.
Sky in the Road combines bluegrass,
pop, singer-songwriter folk, chant, world
music touches, and simmering passion in
all their music.
Mike and Carleen McCornack will be
on stage at 2 p.m. After performing for
more than 900 youth at the Kids
Koncerts on Thursday, the festival is
pleased to welcome back the 2014 peo-
ple’s choice award winners, singer-song-
writers Mike and Carleen McCornack
from Eugene. They have been delighting
audiences for over 30 years with an

Beets
engaging musical style that blends clear,
expressive, harmonious vocals with
acoustic instrumental accompaniments.
The Sugar Beets close the daytime
shows at 4 p.m. For more than 20 years,
the eight-piece ensemble has been bring-
ing people to their feet with their blend
of traditional music and contemporary
original songwriting. They move effort-
lessly from bluegrass or Celtic and old-
time fiddle music to Motown, country,
swing and pop.
