To the lively sounds of a lit- tle ragtime piano, the Rotary Club of Florence unveiled its 2015 auction theme last week, declaring that its upcoming Roaring Twenties extravaganza will set another fundraising record to support scholarships for local young people. The auction is scheduled for 5 p.m. on March 14 at the Florence Events Center. Expect to see a bit of Great Gatsby combined with some Downton Abbey as Rotarians dress the part. Some may even be seen dancing the Charleston or sipping a little speakeasy champagne. All are welcome to attend the meeting Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m., at New Life Lutheran Church, 2100 Spruce St.. Hazelwood graduated last May from the online CLIMB program through Portland Community College in holistic nutrition, and is soon to be Karen Hazelwood board certified in holistic nutri- tion. She is nearing completion of the internship requirements that includes 500 hours of counseling, writing papers, giv- ing talks and providing educa- tion for clients. “I am passionate about edu- cating others on the innate wis- dom of their bodies, and the importance of taking charge instead of handing our health over to doctors, who spend only five percent, or less, of their education in learning about nutrition,” said Hazelwood. “I am interested in reaching out to those who show even a slight interest in how they can begin the healing process for their own bodies, as well as those who are on a continual quest to be the best they can be. We owe it to the ‘invisible soldiers’ tire- lessly working within us to keep us free of disease.” FRIDAY SATURDAY SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY JANUARY 10 JANUARY 11 JANUARY 12 JANUARY 13 JANUARY 14 JANUARY 15 JANUARY 16 Cloudy Partly Sunny Partial Sun Mostly Sunny Rain 53°F 44°F 54°F 43°F 54°F 45°F 54°F 48°F 54°F 41°F WEDNESDAY THURSDAY ENTRY FORM Name _____________________________________________________ Address_______________________________________________________________ Phone______________Fax________________E-mail__________________________ Cloudy with Cloudy after noon showers some Showers I will be submitting: # _________ Pies Apple_____ Berry_____ Other Fruit or Nut_____ Youth Entry_____ ENTRY FEE: Amateur $3.00 first entry, $2 ea. additional, limited to 3 entries Submit form and entry fee to the FEC office by Thursday 1/15/15; late entries will be charged $1 extra per pie.
