Both the men and women play by OGA/U.S. Golf Association rules. The women play Tuesday mornings, either nine or 18 holes, while the men play at 5 p.m. Tuesdays (nine holes) and 8 a.m. Thursdays (18 holes). The two groups also play nice together. “We do some social things,” says Moore. “We did a men’s and women’s scramble for Food Share, and raised $300 for Food Share last year.” Membership in the associa- tions has been helped by the purchase of the course in March 2012 by Three Rivers Casino and Hotel, which has invested in some noticeable improvements to the course. “The casino has been doing things to make the course more playable,” says Jerry Mulvey, longtime treasurer for the men’s association. “It’s been a big help to membership.” “I love this golf course,” adds Tommy Thompson, a PGA professional who offers lessons at Ocean Dunes. “People who haven’t played here for four years come back and can’t believe the changes.” Anyone interested in joining either of the Ocean Dunes golf associations, or who would like more information about its’ programs, can call the Ocean Dunes pro shop at 541-997- 3232. there is still a significant chance she may not make it.
