J, Piaell calin of which I spoke last week was pulled down a day or two ago, by the owner of the lan 1 on which it had stood so ong. h irst this pioneer log cabin sheltere 1 Mr. and Mrs. J?i.ell and their little daughter Ida, now Mrs. Wm. Himmelwright, the mother of three chilJr.-n. After several years residence in this cabin they abandoned it to bats and owls. These held undisturbed occupancy for half a score of year?, then came the tramp of homeseekers, The owls took flight to some shady gorge in the mountains and the bats found other shelter behind the loose bark of some nearby dead pine tree. Barnyard fowls now took possession of the cabin just deserted by their dreadful foe, the owl. Her j for five years they nest ed an 1 reared their young, but now tbn historic cabin lieB prone upon the ground never to rise again. Everybody is busy feeding and a few are inquiring for feed which does not seem to be so plentiful as at the beginning of the winter. Jake Smith was quite badly hurt by the falling of the saw mill roof which wiS caused by being heavily loadel with snow. He says that the only thing that saved him was the old engine bed near which he took refuge. Arthur Frlddles is improving quite rapidly frdm the effects of a night spent id . Mr. Uriristeai is carrying the nail from Flora to Grouse. Misf Beach is teaching a very niccessfut . term of school in the tew district'. A basket supper .vas given last Friday night and he proceeds amounted to $22 vhich was to be expended for the lmiefit of the school building. Sehool is also io progress in the Beesom district with an enrollment of nearly 40 scholars. Literary on Saturday nights which is well at nded. . A. D. Allen th assistant fislj commissioner .has , closed ,a yery successful , ca,tch, 8 million sock eyes and between 2 and 3 million chinooks. S. Holmes is building aware house and B. Wilson is gathering up the unneeded material for storage Mr. Allen has worked very hard and should receive much credit. He is suffering from in gestion at present caused from being wet. A Qood Grain. Spelt i the best grain to grow on dry land. It produce large crop of hay and grain on hill land and is a great grain to stool. Forty pounds is sufficient to sow on one acre. It yields from GO to 7a bushels of rich grain jer acre and from tliriH" to four tons of good hay. The straw is very fattening and liked very much by stock. I have reveral hundred bushels that 1 will gull nt one dollar per bushel. Tuities wanting- twenty bushels or more can have it delivered at Enterprise free of charge for freight. For sale by tlx E.
