Tho discussion which followed the reading of the paper was quite instructive and brought out many good points. The discussion finally took a turn and ran into spelling nnd the subject was quite thoroughly discussed. Next was the subject of Geography by map drawing by M. K. Manning, of Enter prise. The theory was that maps were to be hastily sketched by the pupils and the principal places, pro ducts! rivers, cities, ete .. shrm!,l 'l. Minted and attention called to same. The discussion was on the line of the use of Psychology. Many good discussions were offered te'lingchow to develop deficient facul ties. Following this paper was a piper "How to create interest in study," by Miss Forsythe read by Miss DeVore. As a fust step in this direction Secretary , Hitchcock n.rs ordered that all entries in Oregon under the timber and stone act be suspended pending specific investiga tion, aud directed that each timbtr eiitryman be served with a notice to uj.v causa why his entry should not be conceited. If, during this suspen sion, any eiitryman attempt to cut or remove timber limn tu tr.,..t sought by him, he will be prosecuted to the full fxteut of the law. The ordered investigation will in clude the land offices at Kosobunr. The Dalles and Lake-view.
