Lovely spring weather.
Mr. Landrus was up from Para
dise last Wednesday doing some
work on the Wilsey Bros, saw mill
engine.

Baker & Drake last Thursday.
The ground was covered with
snow on several mornings of last
week.
Frank Wilsey had a runaway

the M. E. church Sunday morning.
Owing, we presume, to the stage
between Elgin and Lostine having
changed to summer schedule, the

earlier last week. This is an im
provement. Notwithstanding the inclement
weather of last Saturday, the sale
of Geo. Baker Sr. was well attended.

The recent rains caused consider
able damage to the roads.

Frank Rynearson passed through
the Park en route to Joseph from
Snake river where he has been for
the past four months. He showed
us some fine specimens of ore
which he found.
The ptople of the upper Imnaha
were fooled the 2nd. A show was
billed for that date but failed to
come, but might have been worse
fooled if1 it had have come.
Messrs. Gillaspie and Himel
wright are taking their cattle on
the Snake river benches.
Jacob Guyan lias gone to Big
Sheep 'to work for G. Myers.
John Guyan and wife went to
Prairie creek the 3rd. Mrs. G. ex
pects to be gone some time visiting
relatives.

expected from Iowa, c

The primary and intermediate
departments of Wallowa public
school will close this week. One
of the teachers, Miss Ada Robinson,
will shortly commence a term of
school on Alder Slope, while Mrs
Rose Tulley Schneider will teach a
summer school on Imnaha.
The Democrats will open the
campaign here May 1. A big time
is anticipated.
Frank Childers of La Grand
was in Wallowa the first of the
week with a horse buyer from
Seattle.
The editor of the Wallowa News
is absent in the far East where he
was recently married to a vounsr

The Neville Bros, will build two
large barns on their farms near
Wallowa. The contract has al
ready been let to Wm. Beedler.
