Secretary of State F. I. Dunbar lias
completed the compilation of the
statement of the expenses of the sever
al counties of this itate. for runninc
the county government, and has tab
ulated the same and issued it in j ritit-
ed form. The statement contains in

count by each county, added to which
is a table showing the population ac
cording to the Fnited States census
cf 1900; the number of acres in each
county; the assessed valuation in
1W1; the percentage of expenses
which each county lars to the total
expense of all counties of the state;
and the percentage of the appoint
ment of state taxes among the several
counties of the state. The total ex
pense for the year 1001, except for
roads and highways, in the several
counties of the, state, is as follows,

Zelpha B., daughter of Mr. nd Mrs.
W. P. Hambleton, aged 6 years, 9
months, died in the hospital at Walla
Walla, March 0, 1902, and was laid to
j'est in the Alder cemetery, by the
I side o' three other members of the
family, on March 10, 1002, at 2 P. M.
The large number present both
from Alder and Enterprise, was an
unmistakable token of warm friend
ship and deep sympathy lt for the
bereaved family.
