Heat in Game Shows Monthly Gathering Is Up in Wrong Place Check-up on Progress When Private First Class Stan __________ The third monthly meeting of the four-county cantonment coun cil will be held next Monday eve ning at Monmouth in the Mon mouth hotel, where the group will be guests of Mayor Bowersox. Mayors and county judges of Marion, Linn, Polk and Benton counties comprise the membership of the council. Any others inter ested are invited to participate, according to H. C. (Sven) Johnson, coordinator, whose report is made at each meeting. It is at these meetings, Mr. John son says, that those attending may get first hand, the work being done by the coordinator’s office. This phase is especially interesting now that counties and cities are preparing financial budgets for the coming year. Howard C. Hand, mayor of Cor- ley Motush, of Camp Barkeley, Tex., says something, he gets real action. Motush and a group of his buddies were playing blackjack on his hunk one night recently. The dealer came to the end of the deck, reshuffled and started a new deal. “Burn one,” Motush yelled, no- ticing that the dealer had not pro ceeded according to Hoyle. At his yell the group noticed curling up behind him a wisp of white smoke. In reaching forward, Motush had tipped over an ash try — and a lighted cigarette had set his pillow afire!
