Mysteriously Disappears.
About four weeks ago to-day, a man
named Chas. Miller, brother of Duck
Miller, of Molalla precinct, got off the
cars at Hubbard Station and rode out to
Stubbs' store vith M r. John Stewart. He
told Mr. Stewart that he was going to visit
his father, brothers ami sister, whom he
had not seen for 11 years. He .said he had
been living in California during thaiti . e
He purchased a buttle of whisky at the
store, saying that the oid man used to like
a dram, and lie would give him a treat;
and then picked up his satchel and started
to walk to his brother's place, which is
about four miles from the store. A little
after sun down a man answering to tho de
scription given by Mr. Stewart stopped at
the Widow Jackson's and inquired the
way to Puck Milier's, and the same even
ing he stopped at Mrs. Harrison Wright's
anil also inquired the wr.y to the same
place. Mrs. Wright says shs gave him
the information, and tho man passed out
of the j-ute, but she did not notice which
way he went, as she was busy at work.
This is the last place that any trace can be
obtained id' the missing man, and it is
feared that lie was lou'ly dealt with. It
is only a little over a mile from Mrs.
Wright's to Duck Miller's place, mid the
road is plain and open, and there was not
any chance of losing the road. The people
of the neighborhood have made thorough
search for the missing man on two occa
sions, but cannot find any trace id' him.
It is not known whether ho had any
moncj' on his person or not. Mr. W. li.
Vaughan, front whom we obtain our in
formation, says there is no douet but what
the man was made avav with in some
manner. From the circumstances, it is
supposed tiiat some one way laid the man
between Wright's .md Miller's; but there
is not the slightest clue to the perpetrator.
The fat her of t lie misslmr man showed Mr.
Stewart an a I bum containing a pho'.ogra oh
oi his son, ami lie at once identified tlie
portrait as that of the man who rode in
