Accident. Mr. J. II. Lambert, a
well known resident of this county,
met with a severe accident at his place
near Milwaukie last Friday. He was
descending the steep bank to the river,
when he slipped and fell across a large
rock, fracturing two of his ribs and
being severelv bruised. He is getting

and proceeded to organize according to
the provisions of Senate Bill No. U. Mr.
Allen Parker was elected president of
the Board, and a young gentleman
from Polk county, " whose " name we
failed to obtain, secretary.

a fall last Saturday, lie was repairing
the roof on his residence, and in de
scending, the ladder slipped and lie
tell about ten feet to the ground, frac
turing a rib, and was severely bruised.
He is getting along finely, and will lie

Mr. Henry Soci.s, who resides some
12 miles across the river, in Washing
ton county, was in town last week. He
informs us that he does Ids trailing in
Portland, but would prefer coming to
this citv if we had a bridge over the
river, as it is three miles nearer, and
that most of his neighbors would do
the same.

In this city, at the residence of her
mother-in-law, on October 21th, Mrs. lan
m K. Kershaw, aged 113 years.
Deceased was bom in the State nnd city
of New York. Became a member of tho
Baptist Church in the year 1S71. On the
th day of June, 1S70, nan united in mar
riage with Mr. James Kershaw, the now
sorrowing husband. They came imme
diately to Oregon, residing in Yamhill Co.
for a time, and subsequently in
Oregon i
City until her death. She urn s sick about
one week and snfiVred intensely. When
near death she seemed fully conscious of
her condition, but wa.swillinrandatixioii8
to go. Her last words were. "Lord do take
me" "Good night. " May Heaven's bless
ing rest upon her companion and friends.
Her funeral services were conduet' d from
