Centennial year. It is also the year in
which an Opiosition House of Represen
tatives, t he lirst since t he war, will be in
powr at Washington; and the year of the
t wentv-third elect ion of a President of the
United States. All of these events are sure
to tie of great interest ami importance,
especially the two latter; and all of them
and everyt hing connected with them, will
be fully and freshly reported and exclud
ed in The mux.
The Opposition House of Representa
tives, taking up the line of inquiry opened
vears ago by The SUX, will sternly and
diligent Iv investigate the corruptions and
misdeeds of Grant's administration; and,
will, it is to be hoped, lay the foundation
for a new and better period in our nation
al history. Of all this THE HL'n will con
tain complete and accurate accounts, tur
nishing its readers with early ami trust
worthy information upon these absorbing
topics.
The twentv-third Presidential election,
with the preparations for it, will be mem
orable as deciding upon Grant's aspira
tions for a third term of power and plun
der, and still more as deciding who shall
be tho candidate of the party of Kef or m,
and as electing that candidate. Concern
ing all these subjects, those who read The
Sun will have the constant means of be
ing -thoroughly well informed.
The Weekly SUN, which has attained a
circulation of over eighty thousand copies,
already has its readers in every State and
Territory, and we trust that the year ls7t
will sets their numbers doubled. It will
continue to be a thorough newspaper. All
the general news of the day will be found
in it condensed when unimportant, at full
length wheiof moment; and always, we
trust, treated in a clear, interesting and in
structive manner. v trv
It is our aim to make The eekt.y Sun
