as Ave are in thisinsfance unable'to

Now, what v-& would like to know
is, what right has this body of men
(or any soaret organization, for that
matter,) to pass sentence of death
on a human being? Do the laws of
our country permit such societies,
with such powers, to iiiist? If so,
what is to prevent the desperadoes
throughout the country sending our
best people to their graves? Why
do the authorities allow sueh mani
fest contempt for our legislation?
Are we to be subject to mob law, and
are our live to be in the hands of
usurping ruffians?
