that time we have not heard
what the result of the action of the
Committee appoined at that meeting
has been, and we now call attention
of the citizens of this place to tho
following notice, which has been is
sued by order of the Board of Direc
tors. The notice is as follows:
liy a resolution adopted by the
stockholders of the Home Manufac
turing Company, at a meeting held
by them in Salem, Oct. 12th 1S74, it
was ordered that the Directors of
said Corporation give notice to the
citizens of Salem, Albany and other
points interested, that they would
receive proxositioir: in tho way of :
donations and contributions to said !
Manufacturing Company to induce
said Company to locate their manu
facturing shops at such point or
place as will give the greatest sum,
in value, in dollars and cents, or in
realty. Xow it is therefore ordered
by tlie Directors, that the Secretary
of the Company be authorized to re
ceive sealed proposals of donations
to said Company from this date till
2 o'clock v. ir. Dec. 2d, 2871.
We tr ist that our citizens will
make a proper ell' -t to secure this
establishment in our city. It is
put np to the highest bidder, and it
now remains for our pno le to show
their liberality. There can be no
question but what the successful es
tablishment of this institution in our
city would enhance tho value of
property a hundred per cent., and
there should be nothing left undone
in securing it. At the former meet
ing in this city, the President was
instructed to call our citizens to-
getner again when in his judgment it
was necessary. To comply with this
order, a meeting of thoso interested
is hereby called for Friday evening,
November 11th, when we hope tho
committee appointed, at the former
meeeting will bo prepared to make
their report, and to take such other
steps as may be deemed necessary
for securing this establishment.
Nearly all the stock of tho Company
is taken in Linn and Marion coun
ties, and Oregon City will have to
do better than either of theso two
places to secure the Factory. It is
hoped that there may bo a fair ex
pression on this subject bv our citi
zens.

therefore, is a period of the year when the
la liaoitants ol sucn districts should pre
pare their system to meet the unwhole

course ot tonic and alterative treatment.
Koremost among the invigorants, recom
mended by time and experience, as u
means of tortifying the system uguinst all
endemic and epidemic maladies, stands
llostetter's Stomach Kilters. Whoever
have traveled in tlie West or ."South knows
lull well the esteem in which this incom
parable preventive and restorative is held
throughout those regions. It is literally a
domestic staple in tlie swampy and mepli
itic localities which lie on t he borders of
many of our large rivers and in the neigh
borhood of our Southern bayous and la
goons. Now is the time when" the inhabit
ants, of all malarious districts should put
their system and constitutions in good de
fensive trim by a course of this powerful
vegetable antidote. Uy this means the
feeblest resident of an unhealthy soil may
escape tin? sickness, which without t he aid
of this potent ally of nature, will be apt to
overtake t he st roiigest. ( hills and lever,
bilious remittents, constipation, rheuma

plaints are frequently brought on by tho
caprices of t cm pL'rat ure and alternations
of very cold and excessive moisture com

of spring. I.etall who desire to avoid these
distressing nilmcnts take the Hitters as a
safeguard.

It is a reliable institution, and some one

be no doubt as to the honesty of its man

Governor Thomas K. l'ram Kite, of Louis

Hair Vio
For restoring to Gray Hair its
natural Vitality and Color.0
vrliicli i vt
once agrccabl",
healthy, a n i
effectual for
preserving Iihj
hnir. It rivt.
restores jiil
or fjrtzy hair
to its orifjiiiul
color, ivilh the
gloss and freshness of youth. Thin
hair is thickened, falling hair check ci
and baldness often, though not always,
cured by its use. Nothing can restore
tho hair where- the follicles aro de
stroyed, or the glands atrophied and
decayed; but such as remain can be
saved by this application, and ftinvi
lated into activity, so that a nw
growth of hair is produced. Instead
of fouling tho ?hair with a pasty sedi
ment, it will keep it clean and vigorous.
Its occasional use will prevent the hair
from turning gray or falling off, and
consequently prevent baldness. Tho
restoration of vitality it gives to tho
scalp arrests and prevents the' forma
tion of dandruff, which is often so un
cleanly and offensive. Free from thoQ
deleterious substances whicTf make
Eorae preparations dangerous and inju
rious to the hair, the Vigor can only
benefit but not harm it. If wanted
merely for a IIAUl DRESSING,
nothing else can be found so desirable.
Containing neither oil nor dye, it does
not soil white cambric, and yet lasts
long on the hair, giving it a rich, glossy
Vastre, and a grateful perfume.
