The Eugene Guard says that "the
Republican nominations failed to
arouse any enthusiasm in this com
munity. If anything was ever
'damned with faint praise, this tick
et is that thing."
They Do Not Like It. From all
can learn, tlie printers tnd pub
lishers of the State will give their
votes almost as a unit to the Demo
cratic candidate, Mr. Brown. The
Kadical nominee has no claims on
them for their support, and Las in
every case where lie could, "injured
the business to put money in his own
pockets. The Kadical editors do not
like the idea of being set aside after
doing the work for the party, and one
who has never devoted an hour to its
interest take the place which of right
belonged to one of their number.
The Bulletin, State Journal, Jack
sonville Sentinel and Gazette are the
only Radical papers which support
the Ring ticket. Four out of thir
teen papers. This is quite a contrast,
The entire Democratic pi-ess heartily
supports their ticket.
The Salem Mercury has this: "A
gentleman from Douglas county in
forms us that some peddling gentrv
hove been perambulating that county
victimized the farmers to the tune of
about S 10,000. They represented
that there were first-class tailors just
jehind them, who would make up
the cloth for S3 a suit. Upon -this
representation many were induced
to purchase the goods in quantities
amounting to from $150 to S:)00.
ut the tailors never came, and the
cloth now remains as so much worth-
ess trash on their hands.
Wm. II. Trotter, of Salem, was ar
rested iii that city Monday on the
complaint of W ood Al tinkers, a well
known typo of that juace. Alunkers
claims that Trotter entered his room
some time Sunday and relieved him
of some S300 or 100 iu coin. Trot
ter was arrested at the depot, previ
ous to his departure for this city.
and a large amount of coin was
found on his person. His friends
claim that it had been intrusted to
lis keeping by Price it ltoyce, for
the purpose of p.tying some bils in
Portland
Ixqi'ests. "If some of our drug
gists, says an Illinois paper, would
till a bottle with bed-bug poison and
lable it 'Old I've,' there would be so
many inquests in the next twenty
four hours that all the papers would
have to issue supplements.

MEANS WHAT HE SAYS.
Through " confirmations strong as proofs
of Holv Writ" and as- numerous as the
sands on the sea shore, wcra produced to
prove that the proprietor of Dr. Cage's Ca
tarrh Kemedy is in earnest and means
what he says, when he offers $.3uu reward
for an v case or Catarrh which he can not
cure, yet there would be some skeptics and
fogies who would eontimie to shout "Hum
lnii."' "HcmhuoI!" "It cannot be, be
cause Dr. Homespun says Catarrh cannot
be cured." .Now, this Dr. Homespun is the
identical, good injured old lellow who
honestly believes and persists in declaring
that this earth is not round or spherical,
but as liat as a " flap-jack," and does not
turn over, otherwise the water would all be
spilled out of Deacon Hascom's mill pond.
I tut astronomical science has positively
demonstrated and proven that Dr. Home
spun is wrong in supposing the earth to be
flat and stationary, and medical science
is daily proving the fact that he is no loss
mistaken and behind the times in regard
to the curability of Catarrh. In short. it
has been positively proven that this world
moves, and that medical science is nro-
gressive the opinion of Dr. Homespun to
ine contrary notwithstanding. That Dr.
Sage's Catarrh Remedy will cure Catarrh,
tnousanus wuo nave used it attest.
Then buy it, and use it, in doubt do not
stand.
You m ill lind it in drug stores all over the
laud.
From the Catskill Record of Nov. 15, 1ST2.
A Good Itemed-.
We invite attention to the advertisement
of Sage's Catarrh Remedy. Our readers
v. ill bear us w it te-ss t hat we never know
ingly commend humbugs of any name or
nature, and a large pro, ort ion 'of patent
medicines may saicly be el ass--d as impo
sitions upon public credulity. Rut having
witnessed the beneficial elfeots of Sage's
Remedy upon the members of our fainily
iinu others, in Catarrhal cas'-s, we untptli
fl"dly pronounce it a valuable medicine,
entitled to pi blic confidence. The propri
