Convention. The eight members
of the Radical corpse in Oregon, who
assembled in person and prosv at
Portland, last week, and styled them-

Committee, Lave issued a call for a

State Convention to be held at Salem
on the ll'tli day of April. The pri
maries are recommended to be held
March 21st, and the County Conven
tions on the 2Sth. Clackamas county
is entitled to seven delegates in said
Convention.
Pardoned. 3y private letter from
Salem, we learn that the Governor
pardoned on the 21st inst., Thomas
Brown, who was sent to the peniten
tiary from Jackson county. The pe
tition for bis pardon -was signed by
over 2,500 persons throughout the
State. The circumstances under
which he was sent to the penitentiary
are familiar to most of our readers,
and there are none but what will re
joice that Mr. I3rown has gained his
freedom.
The Walla Walla Statesman of the
11th inst. says : "The cold .snap of
two weeks was quite severe on some
of our stock men, many of them re
porting heavy losses. Doc. Whitley,
who lives on Walla Walla, informs
us that he lost between forty and
fifty head."
