"And you and I bare buried Love,
A red seal on the coffin's hd :
The clerk below, tbe Court above,
ProncimwJ it dead ; the corp ?.- 13 bid.
And 1, rrho r.orer crossed your will,
Convmt that you may Lave it still.
"What recks it no7 whose va3 the blame?
But call it mine : for better used
Am I to vrrong and cold disdain
Can better bear to be accused
Of all t?t wears the nhape of shame,
Than have you feel one touch of blame.
"I go alone ; no little hands
To lead roe frorn forbidden ways,
No little Yoice in other lands
Shall eheer me on the weary days,
Yet these are yours, and that to me
1 much indeed, and it must be.
"I did not blame you do not blame
Tbe stormy elements of soul
That I hare scorned to tone or tame,
Or bind down unto dull control.
In full, fierce youth, they all are yours,
With all their folly and their force.
G "But should you some time read a sign,
A name among the princely tew,
While yoa ur- with your friends and mine.
Then careless turn to one or two ;
Say, -he was mine, his smiles, his teirs
Were mine were mine tor years and
years.' ;
The World's J hut. Some en
terprising statistician has figured
it out that the entire debt of the
world amounts to tw enty-two thou
sand billion dollars. Of this sum,
forty-four hundred millions are due
by France; four thousand millions
by Great IJritain; three thousand
millions by the United States, in
cluding individual States, counties
and towns; sixteen hundred mil
lions by Austria; fifteen hundred
millions by Russia; one thousand
by Prussia and the German States;
for hundred millions by Holland;
ctwenty-one hundred millions by the
other European States, and four
thousand millions by Asia, Africa,
South America, and the other coun
tries of the world. Now, as there
can be nothing gained to the world
by accumulating a debt against it,
why not have a World's Financial
Convention in connection with
Gilmore's Universal Peace Jubilee,
at IJoston, next year, repudiate
the whole debt and let other plan
ets look out for themselves ? It
would so help along the jubilee.
True Courage. A coal miner
near Springfield, 111., after putting
in a blast and lighting the fuse, was
running for a place of safetywhen
a companion said his leg was brok
en and he could not get awav.
With more than a soldiers courage,
lie retraced his steps, snatched the
fuse as it was about to ignite the
powder, and prevented the explo
sion which would have destroyed
both lives.
Frightened. The St. Louis
girls were so badly frghtencd by
the experience of one of their
number who dislocated her neck
while resisting a kiss, that now
they hold their lips in the softest
and most comfortable position
whenever they see a man any where
near.
IIeii Sentiments. "I love to
look upon a young man. There is
a hidden potency concealed within
his breast which charms and pains
mc' A daughter of a clergyman
happening to find the above sen
tencooat the close of her father's
manuscript, as he had left it in his
study, sat down and added :
"Them's my sentiments exactly,
papa all but the pains."

Christians must give up thinking
about Cristianity as only a means
of escaping hell, and arriving at a
future heaven. They must show
now, more than ever, that by a un
o ion of loving and truthful "hearts,
God comes here, immortalitv be
gins here, and heaven lies within.
As Well. A Virginia editor
has come to the conclusion that a
man might as well undertake to
hold himself at arm's length and
turn a double somersault over a
meeting house steeple as to attempt
to publish a newspaper that will
suit every bod v.
.
Mr. Akerman informs Ar. (irant
that unless corrupt Kadieals in the
South are punished, there will
shortly be nothing of the party
left in that section. And if they
are properly punished., there will
be nothing of the party lift out
side the walls of penitentiaries.
