THE JDYIXG LOVEK.
BY KICKED HEN'IT STOPD-UID.
ThegraES that is"u7der me cow
Will soon be over me, sweet !
When you walk this way again,
I shall not hear your feet.
You may walk hU way again.
And shed your tears like dew ;
They will be no more to me, then..
Than mine are now to you!
I am a white falcon, hurrah !
My home is in the mountains so high;
But away o'er the land3 and the waters,
' Wherever I please, I can fly.
'I wander from city to city,
I dart from the wave to the cloud ;
And when I am dead I shall slumber,
With my own white wings for a shroud.
"I know a little rose.
And O, but I were blest.
Could I but be the drop of dew
That lies upon her breast !
"But I dare not look so high,
Nor die a death so sweet ;
It is enough for me to be
The dust about her feet !"'

When a matter needs but few

them; he who respects men will be
respected by them.
Sympathy is a balm to the tor

A sick nun was told that his

A Member of the down-trodden

with the likenesses of the four de

"the Lord will provide."
"Sir," said a little blustering

"Weil, I doi.'t exactly know,"

A little girl in West Virginia,

No nation, no religion, no class,
no party, no race ever persecuted

Knowledge or tnv World.
What is it, and how is it attained ?
It is, abts, an acquaintance with
the vices, the heartlessness of the
mass of mankind ; it is acquired
by the frustration of schemes of
happiness; by having been oft oner
than once the dupe of the design
ing; by unveiling the designs and
studying the hearts of men; in a
word, he who can boast of possess
ing it, has obtained it at the price
of his happiness; he has given in
exchange for it the feelings that
render life happy. Unsuspicious
once, lie now suspects all till lie
has proved them frank before, he
has now learned to live with his
friend as though lie may one dav
become his enemy; and has gained
this boasted knowledge at the ex
penese of crushed feelings, and an
opinion of human nature' that is
anything but enobling. Happy is
he who cannot boast of it.

restores faded
or gray hair
iv us original
color, with the
gloss and freshness of youth. Thi
hair is thickened, falling hair checked
and baldness often, though not always
cured by its use. Xothing can restore
the hair where the follicles are de
stroyed, or the glands atrophied and
decayed; but such as remain can be
saved byr this application, and sti min
iated into activity,- so that a new'
growth of hair is produced. Instead
of fouling the hair with a pasty sedi
ment, it will keep it clean and vigorous.
Its occasional use will prevent tlie hai
from turning gray or falling off, and
consequently prefent baldness. Tlie
restoration of vitality it gives to the"
scalp5 arrests and prevents the forma
tion of dandruff, which is often so un
cleanly and offensive. Free from tliosd;
deleterious substances which make
Some preparations dangerous and inju
rious to the hair, the Vigor can onlf
benefit but not harm it. If wanted
merely for a HAIR DRESSING,
nothing else can be found so desirable.
Containing neither oil nor dye, it does
not soil white cambric, and yet lasts
long on the hair, giving it a rich, glossy
Vastre, and a grateful perfume.

Cherry Pectoral
For Diseases of the Throat and Lungs',
such as Coughs, Colds, Whooping
Cough, Bronchitis, Asthma,
and Consumption
Among the grcaf
discoveries of modern
science, few are of
frV',jj Jcai au:e to
mankind than this ef-
'f fectual remedy fur all
diseases of the ThrS
ana jungs. A vast
trial of its virtues,
throughout this and
other countries, lias
shown that it does
surely and effectual! v
control them. The testimony of our Lest citi
zens, of all classes, establishes the fact, thai
Chekuy Pectoral, will and does relieve and
cure the afflicting disorders of the Throat and
Lungs beyond any other medicine. Tlie mofS
dangerous affections of the Pulmonary' Organ 3
yield to its power; and cases of Consump
tion, cured by this preparation, are public
ly known, so remarkable as hardly to be be
lieved, were they not proven beyond dispute.
As a remedy it is adequate, on which the public
may rely for full protection. P.y curing Coughs
the forerunners of more serious disease, it saves
unnumbered lives, and an amount of suffering
not to be computed. It challenges trial, and con
vinces the most sceptical. Every family should
keep it on hand as a protection against the early
and unperceived attack of Pulmonary Affections,
which are easily met at first, but which become
incurable, and too often fatal, if neglected. Ten
der lungs need this defence; and it is unwise t
be withont it. As a safeguard to children, ami J
the distressing' diseases Which be?et tlie Throat
and Chest of childhood,- Ciiki.t.y Pkctoiial
is invaluable; for, by its timely tvse, multi
tudes are rescues I from premature graves, and
saved to the love and affection centred on them.
It acts speedily and surely against ordinary colds,
securing sound and health-restoring sleep. No
one will suffer troublesome Influenza and pain
ful Bronchitis, when' they know how easily
they can be cured. O
Originally the product of long, laborious, and
successful chemical invest igat ion, no cost or toil
is spared in making every bottle in the utmo-t
possible perfection. It may be confidently re
lied upon as possessing all the virtues it has ever
exhibited, and capable of producing cures r.j
memorable as the greatest it has ever effected.
