eggs to be used in cakes, she was
somewhat surprised, upon breaking
the second one into a teacup, when

several large pieces of liver, look
ing as though they had been cut
up in square pieces and fed to the
hen, which were snugly encom
passed in one end of the egg. The
question is, how did these pieces
of liver come to be in the egg ?

ern States by fair means, Grant has
resolved to carry them by any
means. Hence the Ku-Klux pro
clamation and the armed invasion
of South Carolina, the wholesale
arrests of citizens of that State,
and the inauguration of a new re
bellion this time of the Federal
Government against the South.

One Blocker, who owns a field
near Gettysburg,in which two Con
federate soldiers were buried, ac
cording to the Savannah JVcics, re
cently refused to allow their bodies
to be exhumed unless he received
payment for allowing them to re
main so long, and when this was
positively refused, took a set of
teeth attached to a gold plate from
the mouth of one of the dead men
and kept them. This is the mean
est man so far on record.
