Wallace Nrlaun of Walla Walla and Mr. Phelps lift Sunday for the lake to remain a week or two. About seven o'clock Monday morn ing this vicinity was vUited by a blinding dust storm. Housewives who had ariaen early to hang out family waahings were obliged to aummon their courage, remove clothea from the line, and rcjieat a portion of their labors. Ivory enameled woodwork quickly acquired an ebony hue. Vac uum cleaners were hantily employed to remove the irrimy coverings from rugs, curtains and upholstery. Inas much as the storm followed a period of very wet weather, it was regarded as rather unusual. Jim disposed of ' mn,,cjr his business in Oroflno last August, and has since been serving as ranch foreman for wealthy Nei Perec farmer and banker. Mrs. Herbert Thompson of Pendle ton, county chairman for the sale of Christmas health sculn, has appointed Miss Doris Barnes as community chairman for Weston. Harry McBridc is engaged this week in the house moving game by proxy, having hired an experienced mover to do the actual work. Harry bought the Ross farm house from H. A. Street, and is moving it to the Da vis place. J. E. Jones is richer to the extent of a big roll of sausage presented by Mr. and Mrs. Eph Tucker. Jim finds the life of a rural mail carrier to be decidedly worth while, with gifts like this to cheer him on his way.
