A large consignment of new
books for the Weston school library
was received Tuesday by Clerk
Frank Price. The volumes cover a
wide variety of reading fur students
of atl ages.
J. R. English arrived Tuesday
from Nevada, where he has been
employed for many months as
United States transit man. After
a holiday visit with kindred and
friends h will go back to Reno.
Announcement is made that the
flu-closed Weston school will not be
reopened until after the holidays.
An outline of the work in some of
the grades is bulletined at the post
office, in order that the students
may carry on their studies at home.
E. T. Santo of Walla Walla, an
expert millwright and miller who
has specialized in Marvel and
Midget mills. Is assisting Joe Hodg
son at the Weston plant Certain
Improvement have been made un
der his supervision and the plant
put in shape for first-class work.
Weston school teachers who have
gone, home for the holidays are Miss
Louise Rintoul, to The Dalles; Miss
Edna Hollenbeck, to Portland, and
Miss Colvin to Haines. Miss Col
vin was accompanied by her moth
er, who has been keeping house for
her, and who will remain at
Haines.
The side car motorcycle of Chief
of Police Fred DuPuis comes in
good play during the quarantine.
Fred officiates as a sort of commis
lary department for the flu pa
tients, whom he visits with sup
plies every day thus enabling
them to comply with the new quar
antine ordinance. Making his
rounds gtnerally takes the greater
part of a forenoon.'
Spana!e, Wash., has. a woman
mayor in the person of Mrs. C. L
Mood. The voters who place! her
in office also elected her husband,
Dr. C. L. Mood, as councilman;
consequently Mrs. - Mood is sure of
bossing her husband at least one
evening a week. The new mayor
has been very active in fraternal
circles and Red Cross work. She
also manages a large stock ranch
at Odessa.

ties and nation of Walla Walla,
Douglas and Whitman counties.

the ban. Thi will leave only two

ily only one patient, Ray Sower,
Is so far reported.
The G. II. Sams household in the
country will have especial occasion

patient under Dr. McKinney'a
