Tbe Farmers BaiS of Veston Established 1891. Her mother, Mrs. Lucy Davenport, who was with her at Weston, is con ducting a boarding house for stu dents at Warrensburg. Rev. W. S. Payne returned Mon day from Richland, Wash., where he conducted a two weeks' revival resulting in 17 conversions. For the preceding two weeks he con ducted a meeting at Echo, where !50 converts were brought into the fold. During tho winter Mr. Payna had 11 calls for evangelical wurk which he was unable to accept. P. A. and T. L. McBride added this week to their land holdings on Wild Horse by the purchase of 80 acres from J. E. Serimsher, and now own 300 acres in that locality. Their newly-acquired traet is very choice, and cost them a little better than $10,000. Not long ago the McBride boys sold an eighty near Weston to Lester Wilsey. This piece corners on and will round out tho Wilsey holdings. The McBrides intend living on their Wild Horse place this summer. The right of way agent of the O-W. R. & N. Co. was here last week securing rights of way for filling the Dry creek and Pine creek tres tles, lie conducted negotiations with G. W. Staggs, whose farm res idence is under tho Dry creek tres tles, and with the McBride boys and Hezekiah Key, who own ground needed for the Pine creek fill. It Is said that the company will secure the material needed for, the work from its right of way along Dry creek. The highest trestle between Pendleton and Spokane, that at Alto hill, will also be filled. The cost of filling this one trestle, it is said, is estimated at $170,000. Handsome new coupon bonds for tbe City of- Weston have been re ceived at the local bank from the Lumbermen's Trust company of Portland which has bought the en tire issue at par, $14,000, and sent a certified check along with the printed bonds. The coupons bear engraved copies of the signatures of Mayor J. M. Banister and Recorder Andy T. Burnett, but the bonds themselves must be signed by these officers, and the return of Mayor Banister from California is awaited. The bonds mature in from seven to twenty years, are issued in denom inations of $500 and bear '5J per cent interest.
