Olympia T. O. Morrison, assistant commissioner of agriculture, returned recently from an extended inspection tour of the eastern part of the state. Mr. Morrison says that unless unex pected frosts appear, the fruit crop of the state will be a record one. The contract for digging th "hole" for the largest dry dock In the world waa let by the Union Works to the Saa Francisco Bridge company. The contract calls lor me expenditure of 1700.000. The remain der of the work 1 to be done by the Union Works, the total expenditure being approximately 12,000,000. The dock will be at Hunter's Point on San Francisco Bay. The drydock is to be 1000 feet In length. 125 feet in width and 45 feet deep. It will accommodate the largest ships la the United States navy. Streetcar Strike Ended. Pittsburg. Thirty-two hundred mo- tormen and conductors of the Pitts burg Railways company ratified s wage agreement recommended by the leaders, after conferences Wednesday with officers of the company and bus iness men. Half an hour afterward the first car had left the barn nearest the Labor Temple, where the ratifica tion meeting was held, and in a rew hours the service, suspended last Bun day at midnight had become normal.
