Mrs. J. J. Brown is now lying very ill at
the residence of D. R. N. Blackburn,: in this
city, from shocking treatment received at the
hands of one Lunn, a storekeeper at Scio.
Mrs. Brown's family a short time ago left for
Eastern Or6gon, and Mrs. Brown visited Scio
tor the purpose of liidding her son good-bye,
who is a clerk in Lunn's store. While in the
act of stooping over the counter to kiss him,
Lunn struck her a terrible blow in the back,
and forcibly put her out of the store. At the
door he hit her again. No reason is assigned
for his inhuman treatment, other than jrfami-
ly quarrel. But be it what it may, his action
is dowardly and brutal, and deserves the high
est punishment. Mrs. Brown is the wife of
J. J. Brown, who was formerly in the shoe
business in this city, aud is an estimable lady.
She is under the treatment of Dr. Hill, and
slim hopes are entertained of her recovery.
