Butler The Pleasant Valley Push Club baa taken out membership in the Oregon Develop-ment league. The Pleasant Valley Dramatic Olub will pot on a drama Saturday evening, March 1st at the grange hall. The play wo orpinated by Valta Snaalutli, one of the members of the club. Representatives of the P. G. E. Co. were in Valley Tuesday, their objert iw ing to get data from which to form an estimate as to the cost of installing lights in the Valley. Their presence here was due to the effort«, of the Push Club G. W. Lingle, a Damascus farmer, was held up ami shot last Saturday night by a couple of young highway men. Mr. Lingle was seriously wound ed but succeeded in lieating off the thugs until the arrival of help. The cowardly thugs got nothing for their pains. Mr. Lingle gave a good discrip tion of them. Any employee or an immediate relative of an employee of this firm will not be eligible as a candidate in this contest. The Contest Manager reserves the right to reject any nominations for candidacy. No votes will be given for subscriptions for a longer time than two years, nor less time than three months. No candidate will receive special favors, but each and everyone will be assisted alike by the contest management in obtaining votes. Candidates are permitted to secure subscriptions anywhere. All subscriptions and orders must be paid for in advance to obtain votes. Typographical errors in the publishing of votes will be corrected in the following issue. A fire broke out at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Casper Koenigs, who live on Fifth avenue and Beach street, and without taking the trouble of calling the Lenta Fire Department the three Boland brothers rushed to the acene and acting promptly noon had it under way with M. M. Boland acting as chief 'and A. J. Boland at the noeel and J. J. Boland as hydrant man; and they only had one accident, the chief loosing control of hie feet and almost fell off the house.
