The Ladies’ Aid Society will give a strawberry and ice cream social in the Methodist church on Friday evening of this week. Mrs. C. H. Light, who has been an Invalid for several years, is now able to be on the street in a wheel chair which has just been purchased for her. A number of Masons were here from Portland, Gresham and Fairview to attend the meeting last Saturday night. Considerable excitement wai caused on Tuesday afternoon by an attempt of a prisoner to burn down the city jail. The prisoner was a citizen of the town and was confined for disturbing the peace.
