These men work hard to build up the town of Sandy and will continue to do the same until Sandy will be one of the best little towns in the country. P. T. Shelley, our new Justice, and Bert Jonsrud, constable, are sub stantial men to keep the peace and dignity of Sandy. Marshall Davis, carpenter and contractor, is doing much of the building in Sandy. Messrs. Schneider & Davies have opened a photo gallery and are do ing a rushing business, preserving the memory of Sandy’s population. Sandy Fruit Tree Nursery company is now ready for business. It has a large number of acres in vigorous fruit t:ees. Sandy-Firwood Telephone Co. and Eastern Multnomah County Tele phone Co. keeps us all connected with the outside world. The Fruitgrowers' Union, of which J. G. Deshazer is president, and A. G. Bornstart, secretary, meets every month at Firwood Hall. 9 BEAVER STATE HERALD city of considerable importance. Al ready, for the coming year, many business ventures and new homes will be started, among which is a brick building, six-foot sidewalks, graded streets, electric lights, incor poration of the town. Everything seems to indicate a prosperous year for 1911. Valley is grown here. Eight new build ings have been built and others are in course of construction. The roads here are in very good condition. Two tele phone lines, the independent line run ning to Estacada and the Firwood-Dover line connecting with Sandy, have been put in operation this year. DOVER Chas. Newland and Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Ranney, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Pride- inore and Alex Brooks, celebrated Christ mas with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Beach. J. R. Ewing, the school teacher at Welches, stopped in Dherryville one day last week on his way to Portland. Thos. Edgerton, foreman at Oleson’s mill, spent Sunday at his homestead. A party of young and elderly people met at the home of Mrs. J. T. Friel, Jr., and celebrated Christmas. They had a tree and everyone enjoyed the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. O. Rugh celebrated Christmas evening at their home, enter taining a number of guests. They en joyed games, singing and a Christmas tree. Dave Douglas recently sold 12 lieef cattle for 4% cents a pound. Mr. McCormick of Sandy hauled up a four-horse load of hay this week for Ben Beach. S. Eddy is president; R. E. Esson, secretary; W. A. Proc tor, vice-president; Ed. F. Bruns, treasurer. It is doing considerable publicity work in bringing Sandy to the front row. The present mode of conveyance for traveling is three daily stages to Boring, connecting with hourly cars to Portland. Also auto stages con nect with any car from Sandy to Boring. This business is ably man aged by E. F. Donahue, pioneer stageman of Sandy. The Mount Hood electric road is expected to run cars to Sandy before the end of 1911. When complete, Sandy will be within one hour's ride of Portland, practically making San dy a suburb of Portland. Sandy is also on the main line of the Portland, Mount Hood Auto road, on which thousands of dollars were recently spent for improve ments, making it one of the greatest scenic auto ways in the west. Sandy, being surrounded by fertile productive farms and untold wealth of the natural resource» of water power timber and mines, and being in close proximity to the great city of Portland, is destined to become a All Goods of Best Oak-Tanned Leather.
