We wish to «sprees our heartfelt
thanks to the many friends for their

laalie'e Weekly publishes in its latest
aomher a picture showing the eontenla
of the storeroom of the steamer "Ham
burg" with sup pl wo used for the fare
well banquet tendered Roosevelt on his
recent trip acnm the Atlantic.
Fore
most among the good things displayed
are numerous boxes of Hood Kiser ap
ples, and fortunately for Hood Kiver
and Oregon the boxes ere so placed that
the labels ars easily reed in the picture
Don’t forget the "Want Adi” on page 8.
When addreeeing a letter or card
with a lead pencil, see that the address
is plainly written.
Pen and ink is
preferable.
When you address a letter or card
see that you spell the town correctly.
Do not abbreviate the namee of citiea,
like Cin. (for Ciaeiaaatti, or Phil, for
Philadelphia, and do not neglect the
state, for there are a number of citiea
in the United Slates of the same name.
For instance,there are twenty Portlands
and six Greshams.
And don't write
only City, for if by some mistake a
clerk making up the mail should gel it
in with a bunch of letters going to an
other town and stale, how will the re
ceiving clerk know what city to return
the letter to?
When you address a letter or card
leave room for the stamp and postmark
in the upper right hand corner. Post
marks will often blur the address when
written too near the right hand corner.
lk> not put writing in newspapers or
packages. If you do it makes the arti
cle first«lass, and requires letter post
age, two cents an ounce or fraction of
an ounce.
Written or typewritten letters in un
seal«! envelopes are subject to the same
rale of postage as when sealed—two |
cents an ounce or fraction of an ounce.
Postcards containing writing and en-1
closed in transparent envelopes, if
sealed or unsealed, require a two cent
stamp, and the stamp most be placed
on the aNVCLoi'i, not the canl.
