The foot-ball season with all its
enthusiasm ha* reached Gresham, and
within the week two promising teams
have been organized.
The High School has organized a
strong team financed bv the business
men of Gresham : and the enthusiast«
of the town have proceeded to organize
another squad for practice work with
the High School.
Ralph Shepherd, a former star of a
marine team and Carl Congdon, a star
from the Spokane team, hacked up by a
squad of husky youths form the High
School team.
An experienced coach
will be secured by the principal and the
boy* put in training at once.
A game ia scheduled for Thanksgiving
on the home grounds and thia will give
the town a chance to witness a game of
clean, snappy foot-ball.
The town team will lie coached by
Dr. 8. P. Bittner, a crack collegian play
er. and although the rest of the boy* are
inexperienced in this line, are consider
ed good material. The average weight
of this team will be about 160. while the
high school will buck the line with 140
pound men.
The base-ball park at the fair ground*
will be converted into a first-class grid
iron and practice games begun at once.
: These are the first foot-ball team*
ever organized in Gresham, but tLey
