county In thrir determination to carry
their set uud annual lair to a successful

neas a greater attendance than a year
ago, when the enterprise smiled lobe
solidly established as a |iernianeiit affair.
No doubt much of the credit iedue the
leaders and prompters, and without
flattery, I can say that no little credit ia
due the Herald for its stand in the mat­
ter, sa It baa al« aye a to» si al the front
ot everything that would lienetit the en­

necessary in such matters, and it aj»enke
well for the citisena of Multnomah, (ami

only a harbinger ot greater things to

Here in the peaceful valley of the

Granqe fair Premium List Ready.
The premium list for the Grange Fair
Association is being sent out. It is a
very neat piece of work and reflects
credit on ita publishers and the persons
who arranged the prix««. Nine depart-
ments are arranged: Agricultural;
horticultural; darying. live stock, in­
cluding horses and breeding cattle;
poultry, domestic science, industrial,
educational and art. A large nunila-r
of special prises are included in the list,
running in value from ♦-’-■> to ♦’»>.

It is proposed that every citixen » ho
can spare the time, whether lie be a
resident of Gresham or the surrounding
country, come out on Saturday, Oct. 3,
and assist in putting the ground« into
shape for the coining fair. Those of us
who have lieen unable to contribute to
the success ot the enterprise will thus
tie able to allow our good will. Come,
bring your lunch, and help the cause

Mr. M. Alley drew out ♦3000 from one of the big trust companies and took it
home to hia wife to keep for him. Mrs. Alley ripped the hem of an old skirt and
sewed the money in. A lady burglar, presumably, entered the apartments one
