Bessie Howitt Thrown from Horse
Miss Bessie Howitt, of Gresham, was
visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Plymp-
toii Kelly, last Saturday, and by way of

The animal was supposed to l-e pnsif
against any exhibition of temper or high

up his heels and both girls were thrown
to the ground.

but Miss Bessie struck on her heiol
causing severe bruises on tlie forehea«!
anil right brow, and rendering her un­
conscious for several bout*. She was at
once taken to her grandmother’s and
Dr. McIlwain waacalled. Her injuries,
while quite severe enough to lay her up
for several day«, were found to lie not at
all serious.
