One result of the camoaian for
advertising the l'acifio Northwest as
a summer resort country will be noticed
this month, when an excursion of
several hundred people from Los
Angeles and San Francisco will make
a trip through Washington, British
Colombia and Oregon, to view the
wonders of the scenery, enjov the
beautiful summer climate, and become
familiar with the great and growing
cities of the Northwest. This year
the Seattle Chamber of Commerce and
other organizations have been making
a strong bid for summer visitors.
The Southern Pacifio's excursion from
California is one of the first results
of this campaign. The excursionists
will come north, starting July 25. over
the Southern Pacific to Portland.
thence by the Oregon and Washington
to Seattle, where Canadian Pacific
boats will be taken to Victoria and
Vancouver. The rest of the route lies
over the Canadian Pacific to Revel
stoke, southward on Lake Kootenai
and by' rail to Spokane, and via the
new North Bank road to Portland,
where the homeward journey starts
This rlp ought to give the Californians
a fine idea of the Pacific Northwest,
and should be the forerunner of much
travel northward in this and other
summer seasons. Just as California
is th winter habitat of many people
from the Northwest, this country
should be. and in time will be the
summer resort for Californians.
