As the Holidays Approach, a good many men have the feeling that while they are giving liberally to
others, they are justified in some liberality towards themselves.

Suit Cases
Most men are mighty glad to carry one of our
5 and $7 suit cases, themselves. Good looking1
enough to put along beside suit cases that cost
much more. Strong enough to stand lots of hard,
knocking. Steel frame does that, yet light enough
to conveniently carry.

There was supposed to have been
a cross walk built of stone on Main
s'iret i'i;in the Palace hotel to the
First National bank. If a c.t'zen
desires to find that walk he mast
pat on an extra gocd pair of specs.
The walk is svragged down in the
center and the thing is practically
a mud hole. Joy on such improvement
At the last regular meeting of
the city council of the City of
W&itsburg, Wash., a town about
the size of Heppner, it wrs decided
to macadamize the maiu street.
The Fide walks on the same street
in that town are cement and the
town in general is tidy and well
kept. Why not Ht-ppcer? We
don't mean to niaca lamize our
inaiu street, but have better cross
walks and side wnlks. Clean up
our streets and put on au air of
Keif respect.
Apple growers in the last two or
three years has induced farmers
everywhere to plant fruit trees,
parlicuihr'y apples, it le'ng esti
mated that fullv half of the trees
planted this year were planted for
the purpose of producing commer
cial apple orchards. The raising
of fruit iu Morrow County should
be more looked after. There is not
a creek ranch in this county but
what will produce a small orchard
and the editor of this paper urges
that our people start to planting
trees. Hood Iliver, Grand Iionde,
or the Touchet Valley, never pro
duced in their history a finer apple
than some that were placed on the
local market by our farmers during
the past season. Morrow County
has the Boil and the climate for the
production of fruit and the day is
not far distant when the bottoms
along Willow and Rhea creeks will
be one immense orchard.
