Portland's prospects for ft bi
iowu are growing. While thi
packing plants will give the me
tropolis a big boost, the general
and rapid advancement of a great
and prosperous tributary country,
has brought the packers as well as
marvelous growth for Portland.
The completion of the Spokane,
Portland & Seattle railway has
opened up another rich country
that will develop rapidly and add
greatly to the business of Port
land. "Advertising Oregou" is the title
tif a page iu Printers Ink, of July
5, one of the most widely known
of advertising journals. And it it
no wonder that the state's work
ilong thesa lines has attrac'ed
this attention, for no other portion
if America is circulating the at
tractive literature that burdens the
snails of Oregon every day in the
year. Now that the colonist rates

special airent for the territory compria
in Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Mor

trip which Mr. Bone rtcently made in
'he east he visited the factory of the
Fverett-Metzger-Flaoders company at
Detroit, Mich., and made a thorough
examination of tli new car. He is so
horoinchly satisfied that it is every
thin that combines to make the ideal
car at a moderate cost that he has r-

chines. Tne-e were bought on a spot
cash order and will be shipped so as to
reach a point in the new territory where
the most cars are sold about the 15th of
October and wi 1 be exhibited both here
and in the surrounding counties. As
they are the first cars of this style to be
introduced not only io this section but
in the United States, their coining is be
in awaited with interest. In appear
ance this latest production in the auto
mobile world has nil the beauty of line '
and smoothness of finish of the stand
ard cars, and with its reat combination
of improvements, uood workmanship
and low prices seems destined to till the
long standing demand for a hih rade
car at a moderate price. A feature that
will be much appreciated by purchasers
of the E. M. F. is the fact that a com
pete supply of ail parts of the machine
will be kept constantly on hand at the
I'ortland ware rooms of the Studbaker
Co., thus doing away with the long de
lay in orderii from the factory.
