from Monument Monday and was
an outgoing passenger Tuesday
morning.
Harry Reid, of lone, has accept

The tea given by the ladies of
the Southern Methodist church at
Mrs. Bartholomew's last Friday
waB well attended.
The ladies of the Christian
church gave a tea at the residence
of Mrs. Ellis Minor Saturday
which was well attended.
Jack Hynd and family and
mother left Monday for Arthur,
CaLada. Mr. Hynd will leave his
family with relatives at Arthur
and with his mother will visit
England before returning. They
will be gone until fall.
County Clerk Hill issued mar
riage license to Linn Tharp and
Maud Stranahhn, of Gooseberry,
and Hiram Johnson and Hattie E.
Ball, of Hardman. The latter
couple was married Tuesday in
the court house by Judge T. W.

Groshens has purchased the
interest of his partner, Sherman
Shaw in the saloon business.
Morrow county farmers should
now commence to save samples of
grains and grasses for exhibition
at the District Fair at Pendleton
this fall.
The local option election was a
tie in Spray. Fossil went dry and
Mitchell went wet. In Wheeler
county local option was defeated
by a small majority.
J. F. Spray and family left for
their new home at Cottage Grove,
Friday morning. Mr. Spray has
been in this neighborhood for 24
years and has had a part in the
development of this section of the

Walter Weaver was arrested
Tuesday, on the charge of an as
sault with a daogerous weapon
The complaint was made by E. R.
Prock. It seems that Weaver and
Prock quarreled in a cabin on
Skinner creek. Prock went out
and arming himself with a rock
started back into the cabin. Weav
er not caring to have a rock
bounced from his cranium, shut
the door when Prock commenced
to batter tbe obstruction by knock
ing on a hinge and caving in a
few panels. Weaver retaliated by
slashing Prock a few times on the
side of the face and head with a
small pocket knife. Neither party
was very much hurt when tbe al
tercation was stopped by a third
party. The case was heard before
justice Williams yesterday fore
noon and Weaver was discharged
