The citizens of Prineville are
indignant over the recent articles
in the Oregonian in which that
paper has featured a brawl( mak
ing it appear that Prineville ia a
lawless place. From the report of
the city council and the Citizens'
Business League, it appears that
the facts have been greatly dis
torted. Such reports would be in
jurious to any town. As a matter
of right the Oregonian should in.
vestigate this case and publish the
facts.
The East Oregonian in speaking
of the municipal lighting plant at
MiltOD, says: "The plant cost
the city $12,000, citixens of Milton
taking the entire bond issue. Af
ter paying all running expenses,
interest and other items of ex
pense, the plant furnishes free
street lights for Milton and then
pays 10 per cent on the invest
ment. This is clear profit to the
city of Milton. The most signifi
cant fact concerning the plant is
that the cost of electricity to the
public is 50 per cent less than in
PendJeton, Baker City or Walla
Walla." This is certainly an ob
ject lesson that ought to be of in
terest to other towns.

The plans submitted by Con-
Tbe Morrow County Sunday School
Association held an interesting and
profitable convention at the M. .

day. It was regarded by many as tbe
beet convention held for several years.
Rev. W. C. Merritt, international
field worker, for tbe Pacific Coast, was
present and delivered several excellent
addresses, besides taking an active and
helpful part in the discussions. His
address on Friday evening on the topic.
"Organized to Win," is deserving of
special mention.
Rey. J. P. Conder, of Portland, was
also present and proved a most excell
ent worker in the convention. It is
quite likelv that he will be placed in the
field as field worker for this state.
Among our local workers who de
livered addresses or discussed topics
were Rev. Buie, Rev. Crawford, J. J.
Adkins, Miss Bertha Adkins, Rev. J. L.
Jones, S. E. Notson, M. D. L. French,
and Rev. Chandler.
The different schools furnished some
inspiring music for the convention.
Resolutions were adopted thanking
Revs. Merritt and Conder for their
help, the people of the M. E. chnrch.
South, for tbe nee of their cburch, the
good people of Heppner for kindly en
tertaining the outside delegates, and
urging tbe schools to support tbe state
work and commending the teacher
training work of the state association.
